Pre-requisites: Students enrolled in the second year of undergraduate studies in Art History attend the course „The theoretical concepts of Art and Visual Culture of the Modern Period“ and take the exam during the third semester.

Course objectives: Objectives of the course „The theoretical concepts of Art and Visual Culture of the Modern Period“ are to introduce students to the contemporary theoretical concepts of the modern period Visual Culture.

Course description: Within the course „The theoretical concepts of Art and Visual Culture of the Modern Period“, students are introduced to the most common and the latest interpretations of the modern period Visual Culture. Students learn about the existing theoretical views which study, in the period from the Renaissance to the end of "the long nineteenth century": relationship of Visual Culture and the cult; Church reforms and Visual Culture; public, governmental, national and political functions of Visual Culture; gender content of Visual Culture and anthropological characteristics of Visual Culture. In the course „The theoretical concepts of Art and Visual Culture of the Modern Period“, teaching material is interpreted in terms of historical examples of art practice in the European cultural space.

Learning Outcomes: Learning outcomes of the course „The theoretical concepts of Art and Visual Culture of the Modern Period“ are to qualify students for using the latest theoretical concepts in the study of Art and Visual Culture of the modern period.
