Course objectives: Introducing students to the most important transformations in American society in the 20th century with a particular emphasis on civil and human rights movements.

Course description: This course is devoted to examining the social history of the United States in the 20th century, which were times of turbulent social change that accompanied economic changes which induced a speeding up of certain social processes. World War I brought huge social changes; the economic crisis further affected American and Asian societies. New challenges appeared after World War II and the Cold War. All of these things led to a deepening of the contrast between developed and undeveloped, which is particularly evident in the cases of the US and Asia.
