Pre-requisites: The student must fulfill requirements prescribed by the regulations of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.

Course objectives: The goal is the acquirement of extensive knowledge on the subject of fundamental characteristics and trends in history of architecture starting from the beginnings of ancient Greek architecture to the late Gothic period.

Course description: The theoretical segment of the course concerns presentations with reference to diverse aspects of ancient and medieval architecture, while acquiring common and fundamental characteristics within the narrowed time periods. The main focus will be put on changes as well as in continuations, visible on architectural monuments during the whole period in question. The practical section of the course is oriented towards encouraging of students to make their own presentations concerning the topics of special interest for them, within the subject of the course.

Learning Outcomes: The course is designed to introduce students with trends and utilization of ancient and medieval architecture analysis, as well as with natural, materialistic, social and other different circumstances under which various architectural structures and creations have been made.
