Course objectives: The goal of the course is to introduce students to the historical development of politics and international relations in the USA; development of the state-based system OR history of far eastern countries (depending on student's master studies topic).

Course description: This course is devoted to studying the political history of the USA OR China and Japan, by analyzing the most important aspects of their character and development, and the effects of those developments in the first half of the 20th century. A particular focus will be put on analyzing political, economic and social issues. We will separately examine the issues and effects of the two world wars on the history of the US and/or Asia. We will examine the dynamics of local and international political changes up to 2001.

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to follow and understand political processes of the present era.
