Pre-requisites: No specific requirements, although it is desirable for students to have completed Old Church Slavic I&II during undergraduate studies.

Course objectives: Familiarizing with the characteristics of serbian medieval literature, the period and facts about authors and works.

Course description: Beginnings and development of literature of the Southern Slavs; the influence of Cyril and Methodius' students, who arrived in the Balkans after escaping from Moravia. Concepts in the period; translation in literature and its effect on various literary forms present with serbian authors. Two approaches - by genre and type(regardless of period) and by author. A review of the works of particular authors. Chronological frameworks.

Learning Outcomes: Students will be informed on the subject of the creation and development of medieval serbian literature, authors and works, literary genres and forms.
