Course objectives: Deepening one's previous knowledge on poorly researched questions in the history of the Serbs during Habsburg rule.

Course description: Theoretical component is composed of lectures addressing major issues, frequently under-researched, in the history of the Serbs under habsburg rule. With this goal in mind, the main emphasis of the course will be on austrian population politics, analyzing questions in integrating the serbian people into a western feudal society, economic and agricultural opportunities and relations, demographic changs in particular territories, forms of acculturation, the creation of a serbian elite, national and social institutions and development and life of urban settlements in Srem, Banat and Backa in which Serbs where the ethnic majority or significant minority, as well as examining the role of important individuals in history. The practical component will leave room for freedom within each students particular scientific focus, including discussions on sources, the span of available literature and possible fields of research and opportunities, as well as presenting results, first through oral presentation and/or written research paper

Learning Outcomes: Students will gain a long-term base of knowledge for critically assessing questions in the history of the Serbs and the Habsburg Monarchy and be prepared for independent work in the field and writing short scientific papers.
