Course objectives: This course provides an introduction to the major currents of institutional, social, economic and cultural developments in ancient Greece and Near and Middle East and trains students to work with relevant sources & literature.

Course description: Survey of the historical development of the Greek world from the Mycenaean period to the Late-Hellenistic period. Survey of the development of ancient Near and Middle Eastern civilizations from the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC to the reign of Alexander the Great.

Learning Outcomes: Familiarizing oneself about ancient Greece and ancient Near and Muddle Eastern civilizations.
