Course objectives: To attempt to define the idea of roman imperialism. Studying roman conquests from the period of the middle of the 2nd century to the epoch of the Gracchi brothers.
Course description: The organizing of the republic as a precondition to war. Rome and Carthage. Rome and the hellenistic monarchies. Rome and alliances with Greek cities. Roman senate aristocracy and questions of expanding borders. A Vassal state or province?
Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to independently and argumentatively form opinions on the character of roman foreign relations during the period of the greatest expansion of the Roman state.
