Philosophy

History

The Library of the Department of Philosophy was founded in 1948. During the twentieth century it had been renovated and refurbished several times. Since its establishment and all the way upon 1985, the library was primarily oriented towards collecting influential historical, philosophical and Marxist publications, while in the early eighties of the twentieth century the library collections became also expanded with frequent pieces from Anglo-Saxon literature concerned with not only philosophical but with modern era issues as well.

Collections

Today, the library contains nearly 25,000 monographic publications, approximately 450 journals and over 3,050 bound volumes, together with the legacy of Professor Miloš N. Đurić (1,000 items). The library assemblage also includes numerous B.A. theses, M.A. theses and doctoral dissertations.

Catalogues

Until October 2003, the search within the collections was possible only via an authors' catalogue when computerized publications cataloguing system was started. Today, the online system of Virtual Libraries of Serbia (COBISS) allows users to electronically search the engine containing all monographic publications published since 2000.
